Tonight, Professor Smith, Paul, Del, Alban, and Nadia made dinner for us at the Big Five Bistro, and it was absolutely spectacular. It was “herd-style”, and we had couscous salad, cajun chicken pasta (my personal favorite, it was delicious and made me look forward to having US Southern cuisine soon), Thai chicken meatball soup, peri-peri chicken, and a very delicious South African Peppermint Crisp Tart for dessert. The evening was brilliant. We had dinner with some of our wonderful hosts here at the Rivonia Premier Lodge, took some interestingly-angled 1.5 (haha) pictures, ate mind-blowing food, and laughed quite a lot. (I am especially grateful for tonight as it was the first time I’ve been out in a few days due to a minor cold I’ve since recovered from, and it was wonderful to see all of my friends’ faces again! I’d missed you all.)
One week from tomorrow will mark the end of our time in South Africa at VAGH. This last week has a lot of pressure on it… we are finishing assignments, taking our final exam, working overtime to finish editing for each of our projects, having the onesies, and trying to soak up and enjoy the last bits of our time all together this summer (though certainly not the last of our time together at all!). While so much has happened over the last six weeks, they also flew by very quickly, and in case I don’t have the chance to say this to all my peers and instructors in our next jam-packed week: thank you so very much to all of you wonderful people. These past six weeks have made this summer an unforgettable one.
